General Information

Medusa

An artist's depiction of the mythical Medusa.

Miduzza is the name of an alien refugee who crashed landed on Earth, thousands of years ago. She is a native of the planet Progone.

Miduzza is the basis of the Greek mythical being called Medusa.

Description and powers

Miduzza appears to be a human female, in her thirties, except for her hair, which is made of green tubules that pulsate.

Miduzza has the powers of molecular change (all her species has this ability) which allows her to transform others into stone.

Background

Thousands of years ago, the planet Progone fell victim to the invading Old Ones. The Old Ones were immune to the Progone natives powers of molecular change. In the end, Miduzza and her people had no choice but to flee their home world. Most of the race survived, but ended up scattered across the galaxy.

Miduzza herself wandered from world to world for a time, before crash landing on Earth, in Ancient Greece. When she tried to seek help from the humans she encountered, they attacked her out of fear. Miduzza was forced to user her powers of molecular change to defend herself, turning her attackers to stone.

In the end, Miduzza retreated to some deep caverns and built a laboratory with equipment salvaged from her ship. However, those that wanted to kill her still found her on occasion, forcing her to turn them to stone.

Fact becomes myth

Miduzza became the basis of the mythical Medusa. Her green tubules that make up her hair became snakes in the myths. Her powers of molecular change became the basis for the stories of people turning to stone by merely looking at her face.

The most damning distortion was the idea that she was an evil creature. In reality, Miduzza only used her powers to turn people to stone out of self defense, when said people were attacking her.

Miduzza meets Rex and Hannah

In June of 2016, Rex Buckland and Hannah Webster came to Greece, searching for clues about an archeologist named Harley Warren, who had vanished nearly ten years earlier. Warren had vanished while trying to prove his theory that perhaps there was some fact behind the Greek myths.

Rex and Hannah eventually encountered Miduzza, who explained her background to the two former Warlocks. Miduzza also revealed that she had placed Harley Warren in suspended animation, to prevent him from telling the world about her. Since Warren had not tried to kill her, Miduzza had spared his life by placing him in suspended animation, rather than turning him to stone.

Rex and Hannah were sympathetic to Miduzza's plight. The two former Warlocks realized that she had tuned people to stone out of self defense, not out of malice.

Rex and Hannah were able to convince Miduzza to free Warren, and she agreed to do so. Rex and Hannah were able to make Warren realize the truth. Miduzza was only the basis for the Medusa myth, not Medusa herself. Warren then realized that he could not risk exposing her to the outside world, knowing that humanity as a whole would treat her as a freak.

Rex, Hannah, and Warren then left Miduzza's cave and promised to keep her existence a secret.

Future

Only time will tell if Rex and Hannah will encounter Miduzza again.
